My Background

I am a wife, a mother to my beautiful daughter, a dog-lover, and a people-person (but I am also an introvert), love to travel and connect with nature.

I took training in Perinatal Mental Health Disorder, where I learned so much about pregnancy and fertility struggles. I was so fascinated by learning ways to help the TTC (trying to conceive) community and expecting/mothers during this happy but difficult time. I just could not keep this information to myself.

This is a difficult journey to go through alone. It is so important that if you are trying to conceive, pregnant, or postpartum, you have a strong support system. Sometimes that may include a therapist who helps you overcome depression, anxiety, or obsessive thoughts. You do not have to do it alone.

Carissa Melena, Licensed Clinical Social Worker

I am a Licensed Clinical Social Worker who’s determined to foster healing and growth in individuals and communities.

My journey with mental health has been deeply personal, shaped by my own experiences navigating challenges and seeking support. Through these experiences, I've developed a profound empathy and understanding for the complexities of life difficulties.

In my practice, I prioritize creating a safe, non-judgmental space where clients can explore their thoughts, feelings, and experiences. My approach is rooted in compassion, authenticity, and collaboration, empowering clients to cultivate self-awareness and resilience.

I specialize in areas such as anxiety, trauma recovery, self-esteem, and substance use drawing from evidence-based modalities like Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) and mindfulness techniques.

As a Latina therapist, I also have a deep passion for supporting individuals who have been confronted with the lasting effects of generational trauma and systemic racism.

Deriving from my own cultural background, I understand firsthand the importance of breaking generational barriers and reducing mental health stigma within marginalized communities.
